Homemade Sugar-Free California Prune Jam

Create a delightful sugar-free homemade California Prune Jam in under 35 mins. Blend the prunes into a puree with water and then let simmer until soft. Add a zesty twist with lime zest with a tablespoon of honey. Allow to cool, and enjoy this sweet, guilt-free spread on toast or as a versatile topping.

  • 1 ¼ cup (155 g) of California Prunes
  • 1 cup (250 mL) of water
  • Zest half a lime
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) of honey


  1. Prepare the California Prunes: Soak the prunes in warm water for 10 minutes. Then drain the softened prunes.
  2. Blend the prunes into puree with 1 cup of water
  3. Cook the California Prunes: In a saucepan, bring the puree mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 mins until the prunes are soft and you achieve the desired thickness.
  4. While stirring regularly, zest half a lime and add 1 tablespoon (15 g) of honey.
  5. Let the jam cool down and transfer to a jar.

Enjoy: Spread the prune jam on toast, use it as a topping for yogurt or combine it with a peanut butter on bread or get creative with other ways to incorporate.
