Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips and California Prunes

This fluffy banana recipe is gluten and dairy free, and super easy to make! It’s made with just a few simple ingredients and perfect for a healthy snack or dessert. Instead of refined sugar, this banana bread is naturally sweetened with California Prunes. Plus, the chocolate chip and prune combination taste so delicious together.

  • 2 cups (500mL) almond flour
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup (60mL) avocado oil
  • 2 tbsp (30mL) maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup (60mL) chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup (60mL) chopped California Prunes
  • 1 tsp (5mL) cinnamon
  • 1 tsp (5mL) baking powder
  • 1 tsp (5mL) baking soda
  • 1 tsp (5mL) vanilla extract


  1. Start by mashing the bananas with a fork in a large mixing bowl. Add the rest of the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  2. Add in the dry ingredients and mix.
  3. Pour batter into a standard-sized parchment lined loaf pan. Add more chocolate chips and prunes on top.
  4. Bake loaf at 350°F (175°C) or 45 min. Let cool before slicing and enjoying!


To make this recipe vegan, replace eggs with flax eggs. To make a flax egg mix together 1 tbsp (14 g) of ground flaxseed with 3 tbsp (45 mL) of water. Then, let sit for 5 minutes to “gel”.
